This BMW has plenty of rust. Lots of rust. Too much to deal with on my budget. So I'm going to make it a rat rod by stripping the body to bare steel and then spraying on a clear coat. Rust will be given a clear coat too. I'll patch the holes with new steel when time allows. If it runs well and is safe, that's all I really want. Having a bare steel car will make it an interesting conversation piece. Here is what I've done so far.

Hello. I like the idea you applied. Did it work? I have some rust on old van arriving in groves, where panels were welded. I was thinking to apply something to prevent further rust formation. Will clear coat over it do any good? Thanks a lot.

I don’t own this BMW anymore. Clear coat over bare metal will slow down rust. Clear coat over rust won’t help at all.
